The Complete Jimny XL 5-Door Storage Setup Guide (JC74)
The Jimny XL 5-door (JC74) doesn't fold flat from factory — and that's the core problem. This guide covers the only purpose-built, bolt-in modular storage solution designed specifically for the JC74: false floor, lockable drawers, seat platform and optional lithium power system. Australian made, no drilling required.
If you own a Jimny XL 5-door, you've probably already run into the obvious problem: the rear seats don't fold flat. That uneven load floor makes packing for a trip genuinely frustrating — gear slides around, nothing stays organised, and sleeping in the back is basically off the table without some serious work.
The good news is there's now a purpose-built solution that solves all of this in a single modular system. This guide walks through the full ExploreSetups storage setup — what it is, how it goes together, and who it's for.
Why the Jimny XL 5-door needs a purpose-built setup
The 3-door Jimny folds flat from factory. The 5-door XL (JC74) doesn't — and that's the core problem. The rear seat mechanism creates an awkward stepped floor that makes any kind of serious storage a headache. Universal drawer kits and flat packs don't account for the XL's specific dimensions, seat mounts, or floor geometry.
That's why ExploreSetups built the system from scratch — CAD-designed and CNC-cut specifically for the JC74, bolting into factory mounting points with no drilling, no cutting, and no permanent modification to the vehicle.
How the modular system works
The setup builds in three stages, each adding capability on top of the last.
Part 1 — False Floor ($550 AUD)
The foundation. A precision-cut false floor that bolts into factory floor points and creates a flat, level cargo surface. Includes a hidden compartment sized for a 50mm slimline lithium battery — so even at this stage, you're power-ready if you want to be. About 10 minutes to install.
Part 2 — Drawer System + Wing Kit ($2,700 AUD)
Two heavy-duty lockable drawers on polyethylene slides with 75% extension, sitting on top of the false floor. The wing kit closes off the sides to create a seamless flat deck across the full cargo width. Total weight 23kg. Install time 15–20 minutes.
Part 3 — Half Seat Platform ($350 AUD)
A snap-on platform that bolts to the front of the drawer system, bridging the gap between the drawers and the rear of the front seats. Run one side to keep a rear passenger seat, or both for a fully flat surface from tailgate to front headrests. About 2 minutes to install.
The complete setup is also available as a bundle for $3,200 AUD — saving $400 compared to buying parts individually.
The power setup option
For those wanting to go fully off-grid, the Complete Setup + Power ($6,600 AUD) adds a full integrated 12V system. At the core is the Cangoee 110Ah Slimline Lithium battery with a built-in 20A DC-DC charger housed under the false floor, paired with a Victron 75/15 MPPT solar controller, Victron Bluetooth battery monitor, and a pre-wired OTS electrical enclosure with 6-way fuse box, dual USB (including USB-C PD), 12V outlets, and Anderson connectors. A blue Anderson plug comes pre-mounted on the tow bar for plug-and-play solar.
What makes this different from universal kits
This system is not universal. It will not fit the 3-door Jimny, the JB74, or any other variant. It is engineered exclusively for the Suzuki Jimny XL 5-door (JC74 model) — and that specificity is exactly what makes it work. The false floor bolts to factory points with zero gaps. The drawers fit the cargo width precisely. There's no guesswork, no shimming, and no rattles even on corrugated dirt roads.
Materials and build quality
All components are built from 15mm plywood with a heavy-duty charcoal marine-grade carpet finish. Drawers run on polyethylene slides with lockable stainless steel drop T-latches. Manufactured by Outback Touring Solutions (OTS) in Bells Creek, QLD, and backed by their standard warranty. Total system weight with all three parts is approximately 32kg.
Lead time and shipping
All products are made to order with a typical lead time of 3–4 weeks. You'll need a 10mm spanner, 13mm spanner, and a screwdriver — nothing else. Installation video and manual sent by email once your order ships. Free pickup and on-site installation available from Bells Creek, QLD.
Flat-rate shipping across Australia: $150 AUD. New Zealand flat-rate: $400 AUD.

Will this setup fit the 3-door Jimny or any other variant?
No. The ExploreSetups storage system is designed exclusively for the Jimny XL 5-door (JC74 model). It will not fit the 3-door Jimny (JB74) or any other variant. ExploreSetups is an independent business and is not affiliated with Suzuki Motor Corporation.
Do I need to drill or cut anything during installation?
No drilling or cutting is required at all. The entire system is bolt-in using the Jimny XL's existing factory mounting points. Installation is completely reversible and leaves no permanent modification to the vehicle.
Can I build the setup in stages rather than buying everything at once?
Yes. You can start with just the false floor ($550 AUD) and add the drawer system and platform when you're ready. The only dependencies: drawers require the false floor as a mounting base, and the platform requires both. Buying the complete bundle saves $400 AUD.
Can I keep one of the rear seats?
Yes. The half seat platform is modular — install one side to retain a rear passenger seat, or both sides for a fully flat layout. You can swap between configurations in seconds.
What is the lead time and how does shipping work?
All products are made to order with a typical lead time of 3–4 weeks. Flat-rate shipping within Australia is $150 AUD. New Zealand shipping is $400 AUD. Free pickup from Bells Creek, QLD 4551 where on-site installation is also available.
